Description

The White Snake is an interactive narrative intervention derived from The White Snake fairy tale as told by the Brothers Grimm. I wished to create a new story with echoes of the fairy tale apparent for those familiar with the Grimm tale. This narrative in the form of an interactive visual novel with choices given to the reader/player to influence the story with multiple endings.

Where does the game take place?

The world is set in an au 1920’s Mafia America. The story starts in 1926 New York City, and the majority of the story takes place in Chicago. 

What do I control?

The player will control the main character throughout the narrative. The player will have a number of opportunities to make decisions as the main character that will change the path of the story.

How many characters do I control?

This is a single-player experience, controlling the protagonist. 

What is the main focus?

The main character has a great life but feels unfulfilled. After falling in love with a photograph of a beautiful woman, he is compelled to move to another city and complete a number of challenges to win her hand.

What’s different?

This is a reimagining of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, The White Snake. This story has changed the setting and, with it, created a new story.
